Around The Mill

There is ample private parking directly in front of The Mill.

Garden and grounds

A private outside space is situated directly outside the main living area. It provides a seating area, a barbecue for al fresco dining and a Chiminea. Above is a newly planted Willow arch with a wooden see-saw so parents can sit and watch their children play, with wonderful views looking across the valley. There are plenty of owls and bats and wildlife to be seen. Maps are available on request.

Guests are welcome to walk around the wider estate which extends to over a hundred acres. You can roam around the fields and woods, remembering to close gates.

Mill Pond

At the beautiful Mill Pond is a recently built hut in the beautiful oak wood for a night or more out. You can have a bonfire for toasting marshmallows on the fire pit. The wood is a wonderful canopy of trees and near the gate, two swings hang from the oak tree to enjoy the tranquillity of the stunning views across and up the Yarrow Valley.

The Mill Pond can get boggy in certain conditions so, for the safety of young children, please ensure they are accompanied by a responsible person in this area. Contact us if you have any concerns.

Tennis Court

For sporty types, an astro turf tennis court is available, however, there is no netting around the court. There is no need to book, it’s available anytime through the day (but please note there are no floodlights). There is a seating area to watch the sport or just look across to the hills and take in the spectacular views up and down the Yarrow Valley. Rackets & Balls can be provided.

Dogs welcome

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Mill (additional fee applies of £30 per dog). Owners are required to keep dogs in the boot room when wet. This has adjustable underfloor heating and is adjacent to the sitting room. We do allow well behaved dogs into the sitting room but not on the sofas and chairs or beyond in the bedrooms.

The Mill is not overlooked and offers a high level of privacy for holidaying guests. The main farmhouse is nearby but sits quite separate and we are on hand to help with any requests or questions.

"We spent a lovely week at the mill with all my husbands family. The quality of the renovation and workmanship is impressive. Lovely, lovely house and a great holiday in the Borders. Thank you!"

"We have just enjoyed the most wonderful stay at The Mill. Nestled in the stunning countryside of the Scottish Borders, it is quiet and secluded, and was perfect for us to relax and catch up with family. The accommodation is of a very high standard and very comfortable with lots of attention to detail, and beautiful wooden finishes throughout. The owners have thought of everything. We have very happy memories of our stay. Thank you very much."

"We had a fantastic stay at the Mill. A very warm welcome from Lulu and family and a truly stunning home. We took so many pictures of the beautiful woodwork to inspire our budding joiner son back home! With St Marys Loch nearby we took our own kayak and had a great day – we also enjoyed a lovely lunch at the local salmon viewing center who also had lovely and welcoming staff!"

The Mill was perfect. Each bedroom/ensuite combo was unique and beautiful. The woodwork and furniture throughout the house is outstanding and lovely. There are so many unique features to this well-designed home. My entire family was thrilled with this property, and we were all sad when we had to leave.
