Garden and Grounds

A private outside space is situated directly outside the main living area. It provides a seating area, a barbecue for al fresco dining and a Chiminea. Above is a newly planted Willow arch with a wooden see-saw so parents can sit and watch their children play, with wonderful views looking across the valley. There are plenty of owls and bats and wildlife to be seen. Maps are available on request. Guests are welcome to walk around the wider estate which extends to over a hundred acres. You can roam around the fields and woods, remembering to close gates.

Mill Pond

The Mill Pond can get boggy in certain conditions so, for the safety of young children, please ensure they are accompanied by a responsible person in this area. Contact us if you have any concerns. 

Above the pond is a beautiful oak tree with two swings to chill and look across the valley.  Through into the wood, is an amazing canopy of trees, where dens can be made or add to existing ones, walking through the wood is stunning. Camping sites can be organised in all sorts of areas around Lewinshope.

Parking

There is ample private parking directly in front of The Mill. Room for 8 cars and more parking in Farm Yard if necessary. 

Dogs welcome

Two well-behaved dogs are welcome at The Mill (additional fee applies of £30 per dog). Owners are required to keep dogs in the boot room when wet. This has adjustable underfloor heating and is adjacent to the sitting room. We do allow well behaved dogs into the sitting room but not on the sofas and chairs or beyond in the bedrooms. Please see Dog Rules - here.

Tennis Court

For sporty types, an astro turf tennis court is available, however, there is no netting around the court. There is no need to book, it’s available anytime through the day (but please note there are no floodlights). There is a seating area to watch the sport or just look across to the hills and take in the spectacular views up and down the Yarrow Valley. A few old rackets can be provided, please bring your own tennis balls.

Privacy

The Mill is not overlooked and offers a high level of privacy for holidaying guests. The main farmhouse is nearby but sits quite separate and we are on hand to help with any requests or questions.

Lewinshope Yard/ Garden

For Health & Safety reasons, please do not enter into the farm yard. There is a lot of dangerous equipment and hazards. We also ask you do not enter Lewinshope garden/ let your children play on our trampoline, swing or see-saw for health and safety reasons.
